Candace Stribling | 3rd Year at the Waterford Fair
I am a local jewelry artist living in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in southwest Frederick County, Maryland. I work primarily with sterling silver and semi-precious gemstones, employing the traditional metalsmithing techniques such as fabrication, forging, forming and soldering to bring out the beautiful properties of metal. I apply textures using hammers or etching because life is full of textures and I want my jewelry to celebrate it. My influences are architechure, abstract designs, tribal motifs and nature.
Following in the footsteps of African-American metalsmiths such as Art Smith, Winifred Mason, and many other contemporary jewelry designers, I use traditional and timeless metalsmithing techniques to create my contemporary sterling silver and mixed metal designs.
