Cantilo, Icka

September 7, 2020 by [email protected]

Square of the Bone

Jewelry

Handcrafted jewelry for the curious at heart.

Cantilo heavily references biology and natural sciences as she is an amateur entomologist. By hand cutting with a traditional jewelers saw she is able to illustrate the membranous structures and exoskeletons of different species of insects. Techniques such as Champleve and Plique-a-jour with Vitreous Glass enamel allow expressive quality in colors and patinas. Cantilo’s educational background includes Blacksmithing, inspiration is drawn from forging and forming on a smaller scale with precious metals. The jewelry creations are highly expressive for a wide range of aesthetics and interests.
